COVINGTON BUSINESS COUNCIL: Off the Hook: Animals, Vegetables & Minerals from Pond to Sea to be held Feb.10.

Covington Business Council recently issued the following announcement.

Line-caught sockeye, large-mouth bass, striped bass, oysters, and more! Seafood availability in Cincinnati will radically change from its usual offerings on Feb. 10th when the Newport Aquarium will host “Off the Hook” a Celebration of animals, vegetables, and minerals from the pond to the sea. To produce the celebration, over 90 organizations collaborated to highlight the importance of conservation and sustainability, a sample of which include:

•Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch: Seafood Watch helps consumers and businesses choose seafood that's fished or farmed in ways that support a healthy ocean, now and for future generations.

•Chefs Collaborative Seafood Solutions: Chefs Collaborative hosts Seafood Solutions industry workshops and dining events to help educate and inspire fellow professionals and all eaters about sustainable seafood options.

•The James Beard Foundation’s Smart Catch Program: Smart Catch is an educational sustainable seafood program created by chefs for chefs with the purpose of increasing the sustainability of the seafood supply chain. The idea for Smart Catch is simple and powerful: the program provides training and support to chefs so they can serve seafood fished or farmed in environmentally-responsible ways

Proceeds from the event will benefit Chefs Collaborative, the Chefs Collaborative Local Group (#orvcc), the Wave Foundation, and La Soupe Cincinnati.
