Graduates earn 277 degrees, certificates from Union College


About 42.6 percent of the 277 degrees and certificates handed out by Union College in 2017-18 were to students in education programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Barbourville conferred 65 master's degrees and 34 certificates in education programs.

But the single most popular program was for a certificate in general education. Data shows the school gave out 34 certificates in general education, followed by 33 master's degrees in teacher education, multiple levels and 23 bachelor's degrees in registered nursing, nursing administration, nursing research and other clinical nursing.

The college enrolled 1,309 students for 2017-18, including 1,094 in undergraduate programs and 215 in graduate programs.
